Confirmation statement deadlines

The review periods and delivery window for a company's confirmation statement.

The review periods and delivery window for a company's confirmation statement.

Confirmation-statement review periods

Reviewed · Current · Law · From 30 June 2016

1 year

The first review period starts on incorporation; later periods normally start the next day and run for twelve months, unless an earlier confirmation date resets the cycle.

The first twelve-month period ends the day before the first incorporation anniversary. If a company chooses an earlier confirmation date, the next period starts the following day.

Exceptions and branches

  • An early confirmation date shortens the current review period.

Current confirmation-statement delivery window

Reviewed · Current · Law · From 30 June 2016

14 days

A company must deliver a confirmation statement within fourteen days after the end of each review period.

The fourteen-day delivery window follows the review period. Filing early can set an earlier confirmation date and reset the next review period.

Exceptions and branches

  • The delivery window was temporarily extended to 42 days for qualifying periods during 2020–21.

Worked example

A company files early using a confirmation date of 15 September 2025. Its next review period starts on 16 September 2025 and normally ends on 15 September 2026. Fourteen days later is 29 September 2026.

The company-specific date on the register should still be checked before relying on the generic result. Sterling never submits the confirmation statement automatically.
